Question: Can a cell phone deactivate the magnetic strip of a credit card?

I've heard of credit cards having their magnetic strips being deactivated after people put their wallet in the same pocket as their cell phone. Just wondering about this... Yes or No?

In theory it could, but principally because of the permanent magnets in the speaker (and it would not have to be operating or even switched on). In practice the speaker magnets are small and well shielded for the reason that cell phones tend to be kept in pockets/ handbags close to bank cards etc; where any magnetic field would not be welcome. So the answer is Yes.
