Question: Questions about weight loss. first of all, do diet drinks really hinder you in weight loss? if so why? does?

Drinking 8 glasses of water a day, really make a difference in weight loss? And if so why? If I add a packet of one of those Crystal light on the go things to my water bottle, is that considered cheating, or does it still count as one of your 8 oz. of water? I have only just now after years of sitting on my butt, gotten back to excersing. I have gone from doing no physical activity whatsoever to walking 3 miles a day. Today was only my third day of walking and I know that may not sound like much, but for me getting started is the hardest part. I have a very all or nothing type of personality. I have done nothing for years, but for me starting walking again was the hard part. I now have a walking partner and am very confident that I will be walking 3 miles a day, 5 times a week. I am really trying to change my eating habits but just out of curiosity, if I did not change my eating habits at all, how much weight could I expect to lose from going to being completely lethargic, to walking 15 miles a week. How soon can I expect to see results? My worst area is my stomach. I am trying to do sit ups each night but the most I can do at a time is 11. I am hoping that if I do as many as I can each night, the number of situps I can do will greatly increase. Other than sit ups, can you recommend any good excericses for the stomach/ ab area? Please do not leave any rude comments. It is not the easiest thing to admit publically that you are overweight and unphysically fit, but I am honestly trying to change my ways. Tonight I ordered a Domino's pizza for my son (extremely UNDER weight, so do not worry about me making him fat also) but I did not even eat one slice. I had soup instead. :D A first for me. So please, no judging, and positive and helpful comments only please. For the love of God, do not answer this email with a link of some type of scam about things to order. I am trying to lose weight the natural way. Not friggin acai berry type crap. |

Well, I can't help you much with the weight loss diet drinks too much. But, I can give you some insight on what you can do to lose some weight and keep it off. To answer a few of your questions: replacing a normal soda type beverage with water has many advantages: You will take in less calories by choosing the water, it will quench your thirst, and you'll keep your body hydrated. So if you just drank water the whole day and with every meal, you'll at least have taken out about 500 to 800 calories from your daily diet! Adding crystal light to a couple of your 8 oz. waters isn't cheating IMO. Drinking a soda is! Even diet soda is pretty bad for you as they are "empty " calories. As for eating habits: Calorie count everything. You can search for a calorie counter online that will ask for your height, weight, etc. It will then give you a number of calories you can take in per day to maintain weight, to gain weight, and to lose weight. If you stay about 300 - 600 under your caloric intake per day you definitely lose weight as time passes by with moderate exercise. If you cannot absolutely pass on those favorite foods of yours try serving yourself a smaller portion than you normally have and chew your food thoroughly. . . if you eat slowly that will definitely help you as well because it takes roughly about 10\15 minutes for your brain to send the message to your body that you are giving it food. As for exercise, I recommend that you move up to a light jog. Walking is great too, keep at it! Sit ups can be pretty tough and it's perfectly okay to work your abs everyday. If you can walk flights of stairs that would help your abs out as well. The best ab workouts consist of you making sure that your neck is still with your head looking to the ceiling/ sky. You don't want your neck to be doing all the work! Eventually when you can move up to that light jog, try jogging up the stairs too! If you combine that with honest calorie counting, portion control, and keep up the water intake. . . you'll see results within at least a month. I've found that the healthy way to lose weight is about 1 - 2 lbs. per week, 8 per month max to keep the weight off. If you crash diet and lose a bunch of weight, be prepared for it to come back. Once you start up and find a good routine, I'm sure that you'll get hooked and stay into it. I hope this will help you out and good luck to you! |

Glad your in the right direction, to tell you the truth sit ups wont do so much, they work your abs and if you are overweight chances are you have fat over your abs. doing sit ups will strengthen your abs, but you wont see results in your midsection because you cannot pinpoint weight loss. the walking is good as well, but you need some form of cardio activity to get your heart pumping and start sweating. try jogging for a min then walking for a min on and off for the 3 miles. gradually it will get easier with time and you will be able to go farther. try to change your diet to a predominantly plant based diet with plenty of nutrient dense foods. plenty of whole grans such as rice, and eating bread where the 1st ingredient is 100 whole gran will help, lots of carbs, 65% of your diet bagels are horrible for you. carbs should come in the form of lots of vegetables. no red meat, more chicken. lose the cheese. break your 3 daily meals into 5 smaller meals to boost your metabolism |

If you exercise everyday, drink alot of water and eat right you can expect to see results in about 20-30 days. Drinking Crystal Light doesn't count as water, but it's a good idea if you have it with your lunch/ dinner. Also drinking green tea is good for you too. I only exercise 3-4 times a week and i take acai berry and they do work now you said you wanted a natural diet we'll it's pretty simple. Do 15 sit ups then do 10 push ups right after that, take a 24 second break then repeat it 4 times. walking/ running helps too, but if you want to lose weight that's all you need to do, push ups and sit ups.The trick is to drink alot of water and eat healthy + the exercise. No fast food no fried foods. Everyone has their way of losing weight, be patient. Remember we all cheat just check your portions ;] |

I don't know how overweight you are ,or, what exactly calorie intake is... Good for you for getting your butt in gear. :) 6 days per week, cardio, would be ideal. Walk to burn 750 plus cals per hour, which is a good start. Drinking water flushes out the system - add lemon or lime as additional benefit. Crystal Light is all right, a diet soda once every so often. Forget juice, and eat fruit instead. Vegetables raw, naked protein, yogurt in moderation and whole grains. E mail if u want, I would talk about meal plans, et cetera. :) From one all or nothing girl to another, Rainbow |
